Aphasia Flanders brings researchers and healthcare professionals together around research into aphasia and primary progressive aphasia (PPA).
We aim to connect knowledge and expertise, strengthen collaboration between research groups, and make scientific insights accessible to researchers, healthcare professionals, people with aphasia and their loved ones.
Working together to improve aphasia research
Aphasia can occur following acquired brain injury, such as a stroke, but it can also develop gradually as a result of neurodegenerative conditions such as primary progressive aphasia.
Within Aphasia Flanders, researchers from different disciplines and institutions collaborate on questions relating to language, cognition, diagnosis, treatment and support.
By bringing together expertise, methods and research initiatives, we aim to strengthen aphasia research and promote the translation of scientific findings into clinical practice and society.
